London: How to get to London from Luton Airport

London: How to get to London from Luton Airport

luton airport redevelopment cgi
London Luton is another of London’s airports and it consists mainly of low-cost carriers from across Europe. There are some charter routes out of the airport to North Africa, New York and Asia but these are few and far between. Luton is 35 miles or 56.5km north of central London.

One of the big advantages with Luton is its size – because it is still relatively small, you can get through the airport quite quickly. It still, however, sees over 10.5 million passengers come through its doors every year and is growing rapidly.

London Luton Airport to Central London by rail or train

Journeys from central London to “Luton Airport Parkway” station are operated by Thameslink and East Midland Trains. Trains are available from London Blackfairs and London St. Pancras stations. Journey times vary considerably – there is one fast train per hour from St. Pancras where the journey time is a mere 20 minutes. Other journeys vary from 39 to 55 minutes.

Luton has an unusual situation where the rail station is not directly located in the airport itself; instead it is 1 mile west of the airport, and both are linked by a shuttle bus that runs every 10 minutes during the day. The shuttle bus journey takes an additional 10 minutes.
